As part of building its capacity to advance the low-carbon agenda, Auckland Council has three new job openings for senior sustainability professionals in its Chief Sustainability Office.

The office, formed in 2014, has a mission of mainstreaming sustainability in the Auckland region by providing strategic advice, demonstrating transformative action and innovation, and engaging with the wider community and key stakeholders. Auckland Council was accepted into the global C40 Climate Change Leadership group during the COP21 talks in Paris.

The new role of Principal Specialist Sustainability and Climate Resilience will involve delivering strategic leadership, technical expertise and influence in climate resilience strategy and policy.

The Principal Specialist Sustainability and Climate Mitigation will lead and contribute to Auckland Council’s climate change mitigation strategy and develop and implement related policies and strategic initiatives to reduce regional greenhouse gas emissions including leading region-wide implementation of the Low Carbon Auckland action plan.

The Principal Specialist Corporate Sustainability will provide specialist leadership and technical expertise on corporate sustainability strategy and ensure the council is showing leadership in its business practices.

Applications for all three roles close 20 March.
