BRIEF – 17 February 2010 – WSP Lincolne Scott’s specialist sustainable design service, Advanced Environmental, is re-branding and expanding.

The company’s new name, Built Ecology, comes as the company opens a new office in Brisbane, “one of the busiest green building markets in Australia” and another in London.

WSP Lincolne Scott managing director Ché Wall said Built Ecology would be dedicated to progressive environmental design.

“For the past 14 years Advanced Environmental has led the way in the delivery of world-leading services across Australia, with the basic tenets of no ‘green-wash’, always looking beyond compliance, and only celebrating projects that get built – and that will remain unchanged under the new name of Built Ecology,” Mr Wall said.

“As demand for the team’s unique services grows exponentially, and new offices open in Brisbane and London, the time is right to refine the brand name to better reflect what they’re about.”

Global co-ordination of the Built Ecology brand and services will be handled by Matthew Jessup, global leader of Built Ecology and a principal of WSP Lincolne Scott.

Mr Jessup said: “With offices in London and San Francisco – two markets widely recognised as the most progressive in sustainable design – we are better tapped into the growing area of green building policy development, to the benefit of our clients in Australia and elsewher.”

Patrick Cambell will head up the Brisbane office, which is working on the $450 million Queensland Police Academy at Wacol and a 44-floor, 62,500 square metre office tower at 111 Eagle Street.

Matthew Payne has transferred to London where the office is working with Brookfield Multiplex on the 110 million pound redevelopment of the prominent Castle House site at the Elephant & Castle, with a landmark energy efficient 408 apartment residential tower.

Globally the WSP Group includes a partnership with WSP Flack + Kurtz in the USA, WSP Lincolne Scott in Australia and now WSP Buildings in the UK. Existing offices are in Sydney, Melbourne and San Francisco.

In Australia major work has included the 6 Star Green Star – Office Design certified CH2 in Melbourne and Macquarie Group Building in Sydney, and the Melbourne Convention Centre.
