15 May 2013 — The Tourism Authority of Thailand has launched a voluntourism competition.

Titled the Little Big Project, the competition is designed to promote responsible travel in Thailand and demonstrate how a little help can make a big difference to the local community.

People can apply for one of five volunteering projects, from saving elephants in Central Thailand to marine conservation in the Gulf of Thailand or community development with the hill tribes of Chiang Rai.  Five international winners will be picked to partner with a local Thai volunteer.

Entries much include a short detailing why entrants believe they can make a difference to the project selected.  Entries close 17 June.

  1. I have assisted the Gio Tribe in rural Liberia West Africa at my own expense. I enjoy helping the less fortunate and I have a good understanding of what is required to benefit communities. I would love to assist in some way.
