Durack House

Brief – 29 July, 2010 – Woodhead has scooped top sustainability honours at this year’s Western Australian Architecture Awards, receiving the Walter Greenham Sustainable Architecture Award for its work on Durack House in Perth.

In a double triumph, Durack House also received the Ross Chisholm Award for Commercial Architecture, with the jury commending the dual environmental and commercial properties of Woodhead’s design.

“Durack House displays all the core values of architectural design and is distinguished by the manner in which it integrates commercial amenity with civic qualities and environmental responsibility,” the jury said.

“Durack House operates as a functional and effective office building that achieves a 6 Star Green Star design. It is a testament to the value of architecture that ensures a thoughtful and clear conceptual framework throughout the architectural process.”

Other winners in the sustainability category were WA based architects Cameron Chisholm & Nicol who received the Architecture Award and architect Gerard Siero, who picked up the Commendation.
