EVENTS: 8 December 2009 – The Fifth Estate columnist Michael Mobbs was one of the winners in last night’s awards for the 100 most influential people in Sydney, presented by the Sydney Morning Herald’s Sydney Magazine.
Other winners in the environmental category were director general of the NSW Department of Environment, Climate Change and Water Lisa Corbyn, Green Bans hero and environmental campaigner Jack Mundey and indigenous education officer Mount Annan Botanic Gardens Frances Bodkin (who Mobbs has recently written about in his Bathurst Burr column).
Other winners in the architecture and design category include: Philip Coxall of McGregor Coxall landscape architects who transformed the contaminated site at Ballast Point in Balmain, Tim Greer of Tonkin Zulaikha Greer who transformed another public space, the Paddington Reservoir Gardens, and Richard Francis-Jones of Richard Francis-Jones Morehen Thorp who undertook the Surry Hills Library and Community Centre, as well as the Law Faculty building at Sydney University.
