7 April 2014 — A documentary on the rebuilding of Christchurch produced by Curtin University’s Professor Peter Newman has been released.

The film, Christchurch: Resilient City, was made during Professor Newman’s time as a visiting professor at the University of Canterbury, and features key figures such as Bishop Victoria Matthews, former mayor Sir Bob Parker, Canterbury Earthquake Recovery Authority chief executive Roger Sutton, new mayor Lianne Dalziel, academics and geography experts, and members of the Christchurch community.

“It’s called Christchurch: Resilient City as it shows how strongly Christchurch is fighting back against the destructive forces of the earthquakes,” Professor Newman said. “It’s about a future of hope.”

The film, which was made with made the film with Professor Tim Beatley, from the University of Virginia, Charlottesville, was launched at the Christchurch City Council on 2 April.
