After three years, Sam McLean is leaving his post at GetUp, sparking a search for a new national director.
Mr McLean took up the national director position formerly held by Simon Sheikh at age 24, after starting in the organisation as a volunteer eight years ago.
โWorking for GetUpโs passionate members over the past eight years has been the greatest privilege of my life,โ he said.
โIโll always be proud of moments like our High Court victory, which enrolled 170,000 Australians, winning a $1.2 billion mental health commitment from the government, and our crucial campaign in the last Queensland election.
โWhile we celebrate what weโve achieved, itโs more important to remember what weโre still campaigning for. GetUp members believe that politics is too important to be left to politicians and thatโs more true now than ever. We have a huge fight ahead of us to protect economic fairness, tackle climate change, and reform our democracy.โ
GetUp campaigns director Paul Oosting has taken the position of acting national director while the board commences a search for a new national director.
