The Carbon Market Institute has appointed John Connor as its new chief executive officer.
Mr Connor joins CMI from a completed two-year stint as executive director of the Fijian government’s COP23 Presidency Secretariat, where he managed the Secretariat’s strategic, logistic and policy support functions as Fiji presided over UNFCCC negotiations.
He has more than 25 years’ experience in public and business policy focused on climate, sustainability and development issues, including as the former head of The Climate Institute.
He has also worked on numerous boards as well as government and business advisory panels, and is a qualified lawyer and graduate of the Australian Institute of Corporate Directors.
The formerly head of communications for GetUp and for the Lord Mayor of Sydney, Matt Levinson, has joined the UN Human Commission for Refugees as its head of communications and public affairs.
He joins the not for profit UN group from reputation and change management agency SenateSHJ.
Mr Levinson spent two years at GetUp and almost three years at the City of Sydney before SenateSHJ.
