Rory Martin

Rory Martin has been snapped up by Frasers Property Australia after leading the dwp|suters entry that was part of the winning team for Frasersโ€™ Living Building Challenge Brickworks competition.

He was previously research and sustainability leader at dwp|suters and has held previous roles with Inhabit Group and Spowers Architects.

Mr Martinโ€™s new role is sustainability manager residential in an appointment that expands the Frasers sustainability team to seven, including general manager sustainability Paolo Bevilacqua.

Mr Bevilacqua said heโ€™d been watching the progress of Mr Martinโ€™s career for several years, ever since he was declared a Future Green Leader by the Green Building Council of Australia in 2014.

โ€œI was personally introduced to Rory back then and Iโ€™ve kept in touch with him. Obviously I worked with him as part of the Living Building Challenge design collaboration and Iโ€™ve been impressed with work heโ€™s done and events heโ€™s presented at,โ€ Mr Bevilacqua said.

โ€œHeโ€™s established himself as a bit of a thought leader.โ€

Mr Bevilacqua said the team was changing focus, becoming more embedded with its units rather than working from a corporate head office angle.

โ€œWeโ€™re restructuring so the resourcing now is to be more integrated in the business rather than a corporate team.โ€

He said the business now had a โ€œkey direction and strategy around sustainabilityโ€.

The winning team at Brickworks also included Aurecon, CJ Arms, Reedbed technology, Ecoharvest, Biomimicry Australia, Future Food and WATPAC collaboration for โ€œThe Difference is Livingโ€.

This entry was also a finalist in the Peopleโ€™s Choice Awards.
