Rory Martin

Rory Martin has been snapped up by Frasers Property Australia after leading the dwp|suters entry that was part of the winning team for Frasers’ Living Building Challenge Brickworks competition.

He was previously research and sustainability leader at dwp|suters and has held previous roles with Inhabit Group and Spowers Architects.

Mr Martin’s new role is sustainability manager residential in an appointment that expands the Frasers sustainability team to seven, including general manager sustainability Paolo Bevilacqua.

Mr Bevilacqua said he’d been watching the progress of Mr Martin’s career for several years, ever since he was declared a Future Green Leader by the Green Building Council of Australia in 2014.

“I was personally introduced to Rory back then and I’ve kept in touch with him. Obviously I worked with him as part of the Living Building Challenge design collaboration and I’ve been impressed with work he’s done and events he’s presented at,” Mr Bevilacqua said.

“He’s established himself as a bit of a thought leader.”

Mr Bevilacqua said the team was changing focus, becoming more embedded with its units rather than working from a corporate head office angle.

“We’re restructuring so the resourcing now is to be more integrated in the business rather than a corporate team.”

He said the business now had a “key direction and strategy around sustainability”.

The winning team at Brickworks also included Aurecon, CJ Arms, Reedbed technology, Ecoharvest, Biomimicry Australia, Future Food and WATPAC collaboration for “The Difference is Living”.

This entry was also a finalist in the People’s Choice Awards.
