Karen Cain, a local business owner in the Latrobe Valley has been announced as the new chief executive of the Latrobe Valley Authority.
The LVA was setup by the Andrews’ Labor government to assist the Valley’s surrounding communities cope with last week’s closure of the Hazelwood power station.
Ms Caine has owned a commercial beef farm with her husband for the past 21 years, worked as an educational leader, and served as a member of the Gippsland Regional Managers Forum.
Premier Daniel Andrews said “Karen Cain is an outstanding servant of this proud region. She brings experience of both government and industry – and most importantly, an unwavering commitment to the Latrobe Valley.”
According to the government, the LVA has worked intensively with the community, helping more than 260 families affected by Hazelwood’s closure.
Ms Cain replaces Kylie White who established the LVA.
