Kate Harris

Kate Harris has been appointed chief executive of ecolabelling program Good Environmental Choice Australia, following six years with the Centre for Sustainability Leadership.

Ms Harris has been chief executive of the Centre for Sustainability Leadership for the past two years, and is also the founder of consulting firm Future Ready.

“We’re delighted to welcome Kate Harris as GECA’s new CEO,” GECA chair Gordon Renouf said.

“With her vision, passion for sustainability and leadership qualities Kate is the perfect choice to implement GECA’s bold new mission to increase business and consumer demand for and supply of sustainable products and services nationally.”

GECA has been without a chief executive since the departure of Rupert Posner in 2014, with Sungevity’s Ben Waters and Orbis Environmental director Anna Scott brought onboard to map out a new strategic direction for the organisation.

Ms Harris said it was a critical time to be driving sustainability, with it becoming “an expected part of business delivery”.

“I look forward to working collaboratively with you, your business, distributors and consumers to step up in leadership and create positive opportunities for all,” Ms Harris said.

Ms Harris will take up the role in October 2015.
