 Energetics has appointed Bahador Tari to lead its team of consultants in Melbourne.

Mr Tari has held senior roles at the Department of Economic Development, Jobs, Transport and Resources, including his most recent role as senior energy advisor.

He’s also worked at RepuTex, an international climate change, energy and carbon risk analytics and advisory firm, and Rare Consulting (a division of Pitt&Sherry).

There’s a newly created Indigenous position on the board of the Murray Darling Basin Authority that’s designed to give Indigenous communities a voice in how the river system is managed.

The Water Amendment (Indigenous Authority Member) Bill 2019, which establishes an Indigenous member position on the board, passed in parliament on Monday.

Uber Air, the Uber spin-off that’s set to launch a fully scaled air taxi operation in Melbourne by 2023, has appointed Natalie Malligan as its new head.

She’s worked at Uber in Australia since 2017 in various senior roles.

Expert on the urban heat island effect, UNSW Scientia Professor Matthaios Santamouris, has won the 2019 World Society of Sustainable Energy Technologies (WSSET) Innovation Award in the Low Carbon Buildings and Future Cities category.

The award recognises the heat mitigating materials and technology he and a team of researchers have developed over the last twenty years.

Chris Steel has been appointed the minister for recycling and waste reduction by the ACT government.

His role involves reducing food waste and improving the waste management and resource recovery capabilities in ACT.

The Clean Energy Finance Corporation’s Paul McCartney has been promoted to chief clean futures officer, based in Brisbane. He was previously the joint chief investment officer.

PolisPlan’s Steven Liaros has become an affiliate of Planners for Climate Action P4CA. It’s a cooperative initiative that was started at the 23rd Conference of Parties (COP-23) to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change in Bonn in November 2017.

The initiative aims to catalyse and accelerate climate action through responsible and transformative urban and regional planning practice, education and research.
