Professor Tony Arnel has taken over the position of chairman of the board for Air conditioning, Refrigeration Building Services (ARBS) Exhibitions, replacing Ian Hopkins. Currently a Deakin University professor, Mr Arnel has three decades of experience in industry collaboration, sustainability and regulatory reform to improve Australia’s built environment. He is a former president of the Energy Efficiency Council, Green Building Council of Australia and World Green Building Council, and was the Victorian Building and Plumbing Industry Commissioner for 12 years. 

Frasers Property Australia has appointed John Dawson to the newly created role of general manager operations NSW, effective immediately. Mr Dawson has been with the company since 2017 as development director and worked on several projects including the $2.1 billion Midtown MacPark project, and the $3 billion Central Place Sydney development, a joint venture with Dexus. Mr Dawson will manage the company’s NSW development directors and teams.  

Jodie Bricout has been appointed principal of sustainability and climate change at international design, engineering and advisory company Aurecon Asia-Pacific. The adjunct senior lecturer at the University of Adelaide has experience working with corporates, innovators and governments in the circular economy field across Australia, Dubai and Europe. 

Paul Gleeson, Australia and New Zealand managing director of energy, and group director of sustainability at Aurecon, said that Ms Bricout was hired due to her European experience, “where advisory strategies to embed circular economy services for organisations have reached a more mature stage”. 

The newly created position will see Ms Bricout take responsibility for the integration of expertise across the business, strategic advisory and stakeholder engagement to help clients design and implement circular economy strategies. 

Yuki Yasui has been appointed Glasgow Financial Alliance for Net Zero (GFANZ) APAC director and will be relocating from Switzerland to Singapore. For the last ten years Ms Yasui has been heading up the United Nations Environment Programme Finance Initiative (UNEP FI) APAC. Ms Yasui will report to the GFANZ leadership team of Mark Carney, Mike Bloomberg, Mary Schapiro, and Nigel Topping.
