The City is about to embark on the delivery of a 2-year food waste avoidance program across our local government area. This exciting 3 day a week position will be responsible for implementing, managing and iteratively developing a city-scale program aimed at increasing awareness of the impacts of food waste and increasing skills and knowledge to avoid food waste. The ultimate aim is to deliver a quantifiable reduction in food waste amongst program participants. The Officer will be required to establish and build relationships with diverse stakeholders in government, our community, and industry – particularly in our priority customer sectors of accommodation and entertainment, residential apartments and commercial office.

The initial focus of the role is to finalise the design of the program, procure consultancy services to help deliver the program and then to be responsible for ensuring the milestones and outcomes are met and reported on.

The successful candidate will have:

  • tertiary qualifications at degree level in sustainability or other relevant discipline or extensive experience;
  • proven sustainability program management skills and experience in delivering behaviour change campaigns;
  • proven contract management skills.

Previous knowledge of and experience in waste avoidance is desirable.
