We all love some awards action, and since there happens to be so many happening almost every week, we’ve decided to bring you a selection of the stand-out recent winners from the list we have not already covered. With some great pictures included.

Kerstin Thompson Architects was awarded the highest honour that can be bestowed in the public architecture category of the NSW Architecture Awards, the Sulman Medal for public architecture. The studio also received an award in the Sustainable Architecture category in the NSW Architecture Awards for the new 500 square metre Bundanon Art Museum.

Welsh + Major won three awards at the NSW Architecture Awards including the prestigious Robert Woodward Award for The Sanctuary. The firm won the NSW Architecture Award in Residential Architecture – Houses (New) for the Seagrass House. It won the Residential Architecture – Houses (Alterations and Additions) Award for Argyle Well. And it won the Small Project Architecture for The Robert Woodward Award for The Sanctuary. 

The Australian Institute of Landscape Architects (AILA) announced the winners of the South Australian Landscape Architecture Awards for 2022. Across 28 entries, a total of 19 projects have been recognised for their contribution to the state’s landscape architecture industry and the broader community. 

Yunggorendi Mande Cultural Gathering Space took out the Award for Cultural Heritage, and Moonta Street Revitalisation took home the Award for Urban Design.

For AILA’s ACT Landscape Architecture Awards, a total of 10 projects were awarded for their outstanding and positive contributions to Australian Capital Territory’s landscape architecture industry.

Canberra’s popular City Park Walk received the Landscape Architecture Award, recognising the reinvigoration of the space, and a unique approach to create different layers of use. The Park has also been acknowledged with an Award of Excellence for the reimagining of a traditional cemetery through unique landscape interventions and a focus on sustainability principles.

For WA, the WA Medal has been awarded to the Town of Victoria Park Urban Forest Program, a project coordinated by the Town of Victoria Park and Vic Park Urban Foresters.

The urban renewal of Newcastle City into a thriving mixed-use public space won the Premier’s Prize at the NSW Architecture Awards, with SJB, Durbach Block Jaggers and Tonkin Zulaikha Greer awarded for their design of Newcastle East End Stage 1, which has revitalised the centre of the regional city.

The 2022 Victorian Architecture Awards standout was the Grampians Peaks Trail Stage 2 by Noxon Giffen Architects with McGregor Coxall, which took home the Victorian Architecture Medal. 

The Bendigo TAFE City Campus Revitalisation, Shepparton Art Museum, and Ballarat Gov Hub were celebrated for thoughtful and considered consultative approaches to design, which saw close engagement with local communities.
