Planning portal has mixed opinions

Dear Editor,

I would like to address some concerns raised in your article on 1 February 2021, Like “hitting a brick wall“.

It’s disappointing to hear that the Association of Australian Certifiers (AAC) feels we aren’t listening when over the past 12 months, we’ve introduced 29 updates to improve the experience of certifiers on the platform in consultation with the AAC and other key stakeholders.

The Planning Portal is modernising the process for progressing development applications and complying development certificates.

More than 85 per cent of 42,000 Planning Portal users gave the service an on the spot thumbs up.

Overwhelmingly people prefer our new faster, more convenient and simpler digital platform over the old slow and complicated paper-based system.

The NSW Planning Portal has delivered more than $330 million in benefits across NSW and cut assessment times by 32 days for the councils that have been using the system for a year.

We welcome all feedback and will continue to work hard to deliver a faster, visible and more efficient system to save time and money for local homeowners and businesses.
