A workbook-based toolkit to help local governments build up urban climate change resilience has been launched by the South Asia and Oceania chapters of ICLEI – Local Governments for Sustainability and the Asian Cities Climate Change Resilience Network.
The ICLEI-ACCCRN process sets out pathways for a staged methodology of engagement, climate research and impacts assessment, assessing vulnerabilities in urban systems, and developing a city resilience strategy that can be integrated into city plans.
It also includes reference tools, such as intervention mapping techniques, and a menu of climate adaption actions and corresponding policy considerations, constraints and opportunities.
Based on the 2007 Climate Change Synthesis report by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, the menu tool also includes a list of ACCCRN cities and projects where these measures have been implemented.
