Back in May, then CBRE associate director Tony Armstrong told us about the next big wave sweeping the property sector – wellness.

It looks like he was right. The market is doing so well he’s now representing the International WELL Building Institute across the Asia Pacific region, which he tells us is “a really great gig”.

The WELL building standard, created by Delos, focuses on human health and wellness, with certification taking into account seven areas: air, water, nourishment, light, fitness, comfort and mind.

At last week’s Greenbuild Conference in Washington DC, Lendlease announced it was teaming up with Delos to “accelerate the integration of human health and wellness outcomes in the built environment”.

As part of the collaboration, Lendlease said it would identify “pioneering projects” that could pursue WELL certifications.

“Through the certification process, these pioneering projects will drive rapid harmonisation of WELL with local green building rating systems and building codes around the world, a critical step in the adoption of WELL internationally,” a Lendlease statement said.

Lendlease said it would also explore piloting the upcoming WELL Community Standard for its key urban regeneration projects, though specific projects have not been announced.

“It’s a very exciting time for WELL,” Mr Armstrong said.
