Sustainability practitioners fancying a tree change may be interested in a Sustainability Coordinator position going at Tamworth Regional Council in northern NSW. The full-time role with the Waste & Water division will involve being responsible for the coordination and control of Council’s Sustainability Unit.

Another regional position is at Moira Shire Council, which, fresh from winning a built environment award at the Victorian Premier’s Sustainability Awards, is looking for an Environmental Sustainability Officer based in Cobram. The position is pivotal to the development and implementation of environmental sustainability programs for the council and Moira community. You will work towards incorporating environmental sustainability into all aspects of Council operations and community life through education programs, project delivery and the provision of specialist technical advice relating to environmental sustainability best practices.

Back to the city, UrbanGrowth NSW is on the lookout for a Sydney-based Sustainability & Compliance Officer, responsible for supporting the business’ sustainability performance primarily in the areas of the annual Sustainability Report, Environmental Management System, implementing the new sustainability strategy and indicators, and the Reconciliation Action Plan.

Westside Housing Association in Adelaide requires a Project Officer, Sustainable Communities responsible for establishing and running community development activities and ensuring the effective delivery of the “Contributing to Sustainable Communities Strategy”. The successful candidate will work closely with the CEO and board sub-committee and will be responsible for the development, delivery and evaluation of activities related to tenant and community engagement based on evidence and best working practice.

The City of Canterbury in Sydney’s south is after a Sustainability Officer for a 12-month contract to be involved in various environmental and sustainability initiatives within the Environmental Strategy team. The successful applicant will be involved in community sustainability and urban water management engagement programs, energy and water efficiency projects, active transport initiatives, and will work to improve the sustainability knowledge of staff, councillors and the local community.
