The Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply (CIPS) Australasia has appointed Tagai Management Consultants (TMC) founder and managing director Murray Saylor as a direct associate tutor in order to support greater Indigenous community engagement within procurement practice.

CIPS is the world’s largest organisation dedicated to procurement and supply management, working with all sectors across the globe and with a variety of tutors and education specialists.

TMC is an Australian Indigenous procurement and supply organisation that has strong connections with the private and public sector.

The appointment is linked to the Institute’s charter to further develop the professionalisation of procurement and supply management contributing to the public good, promotion and maintenance of standards of skills, ability and integrity, and to include aspects of corporate and social responsibility. The training will also improve social procurement as it applies to Indigenous people and communities.

“Education is the key to creating empowerment and sustainable change in business and organisations, and the relationship with CIPS will allow TMC to build strong relationship pathways and shared value within the procurement community,” Mr Saylor said.

CIPS Asia Pacific general manager Mark Lamb said: “This is an extremely positive move to be working more closely with Murray and the value he brings and will bring to the procurement community.

“CIPS exists for the public good, so we must do more to support local communities and those that have been disadvantaged. This training will also bring value on an individual level for our professionals so they can enrich their own supply chains with diverse suppliers and opportunity.”

The training will be available in the Australasia region, including Australia, New Zealand, New Guinea and the neighbouring islands of the Pacific.
