About Us
The Department of Family and Community Services (FACS) delivers services to the most disadvantaged individuals, families and communities in NSW through local community based programs.
The NSW Land and Housing Corporation (LAHC) is a Public Trading Enterprise within the Family and Community Services cluster. LAHC owns and manages the Government’s public housing portfolio of some 130,000 properties within New South Wales.
Future Directions for Social Housing in NSW sets out the Government’s vision to transform the social housing system over the next 10 years with LAHC playing a critical role in delivering the benefits of this new and innovative model for social housing. In particular, a key feature is the Communities Plus program where LAHC will fast-track the redevelopment of its social housing portfolio in partnership with the private sector and community housing sector to 23,000 new and replacement social housing dwellings and more than 500 affordable dwellings in integrated communities with more than 40,000 private dwellings.
About the Role
We are looking for a proactive and committed professional who will contribute to the development and implementation of environmental sustainability policies, strategies and projects with a focus on initiatives that improve resource efficiency, support sustainable communities, adapt to climate change, reduce environmental risks and continually improve environmental performance. You will be a part of a small team which works on broad range of innovative projects that improve the personal and social wellbeing of social housing tenants and reduce energy, water and living costs.
As the successful candidate you must thrive in working in a fast paced environment, be adaptive to change and you will demonstrate strong partnership and stakeholder management skills. In return, you will work with a dedicated team of professionals where you will gain invaluable experience for ongoing professional development.
Essential Requirements
- Tertiary qualifications in environmental, asset management or a related discipline and/or relevant equivalent experience
- Sound understanding of environmental sustainability issues, asset management and social housing
- Demonstrated research, analytical, policy development and project management skills
- Proven experience in developing and implementing environmental policies and projects in complex operating environments

- Please describe a resource efficiency project that you were responsible for developing and implementing. How did you research and analyse information, identify potential problems, select the most effective solution, evaluate the project and share business process improvements?
