Brisbane Airport Corporation chief executive Julieanne Alroe has been announced as the new chair of the board of Infrastructure Australia. She replaces current chairman, Mark Birrell, who is retiring after four years in the role.
Ms Alroe has been a member of the board since 2014.
โWith a career spanning aviation infrastructure, Julieanne brings deep experience in regulated infrastructure markets and in the financing and delivery of major projects,โ IPA chief executive Brendan Lyon said .
โThe very heavy political overlay to the infrastructure debate needs another strong, resilient and independent leader for Infrastructure Australia, and Julieanne has all of these characteristics.โ
Mr Lyon also praised Mr Birellโs leadership of the organisation and said IAโs priority list of major projects and its landmark Australian Infrastructure Plan had been โoverwhelmingly endorsed and are a tribute to Markโs vision and professional approach.โ
