Peak business body the Sustainable Energy Association of Australia has appointed Dermot Costello as its new chief executive.
Mr Costello has worked in the sustainable energy industry in Australia and Europe for the past eight years, managing projects across wave, tidal, biomass, waste, solar and wind. He is a former director at Emerald Energy Consultancy, which delivered renewable energy projects worldwide.
“The Board is delighted to have secured the services of a highly motivated individual with solid industry and commercial experience, who is passionate about sustainability,” SEA chair Mike Laughton-Smith said.
“With real world experience in sustainable energy projects and the policy environments that affect industry, Mr Costello is well equipped to further strengthen the role SEA plays in supporting the interests of our members.
“This is a critical time for our growing industry in a changing landscape… With Dermot’s appointment, the Board is confident that we are well positioned for the future.”
Mr Costello will take up the role immediately.
