Yarra City Council’s Statutory Planning Department is looking for an enthusiastic Environmentally Sustainable Development Advisor to join their team.

If you are enthusiastic, innovative, self-motivated and able to work both autonomously and within a team of Statutory Planners who strive to deliver good planning outcomes with environmentally sustainable design principles, then we would like to hear from you!

You will give informal support and verbal advice within the Statutory Planning Branch and provide written referral advice for Statutory Planners. You will work with planning permit applicants and developers to prepare Sustainability Management Plans (SMPs) and Sustainable Design Assessments (SDAs), and encourage and facilitate the use of BESS (Built Environment Sustainability Scorecard), STORM and other relevant ESD assessment tools.  You will also work with other internal departments to ensure sustainability if built into Council building projects.

A knowledge of, or experience of working within a Council Statutory Planning Unit (and using the relevant software), would be beneficial.
