The fifth edition of the Your Home sustainability guide has been released.

11 February 2014 — The fifth edition of Your Home, a consumer guide and technical manual for creating sustainable homes, has been released by the Department of Industry.

Your Home contains practical, detailed information on environmentally sustainable design and building to homeowners and the building industry, with the latest edition incorporating the newest research on sustainable design and technology.

Tips featured in the fifth edition include:

  • how to design a house that reduces the need for artificial heating or cooling
  • installing solar electricity and hot water systems
  • how to save money with insulation, appropriate window types and placement, and low energy lighting
  • how to reduce water use
  • how to design a garden to reduce water use and home running costs

Your Home includes step-by-step guides for those wanting to renovate or build an energy efficient home alongside in-depth technical information.
