Ross Harding, Finding Infinity

Ross Harding of Finding Infinity is one of those creative people who shake up the built environment and give it an upward shove. Through his work across vast sectors in the industry, Harding gets to know what works for change and what doesn’t. In one of his provocations, he says, “Architects are such incredible problem solvers. Unfortunately, many of them believe they are designers. Design-first is often problematic if we want to be intelligent about how we utilise materials. If we find unique ways of solving problems, a more thoughtful architecture can unfold.”

He said recently on ArchitectureAu: “Often architecture wants a blank canvas to start a new masterpiece, but we can create much more interesting outcomes if we start by embracing what we already have.” And: “Materials first, not design first. It’s less about the objects we want to create and more about the components they are constructed from.”

Ross Harding will be speaking at our event Building/Unbuilding. Joining him will be Karl-Heinz Weiss, Lendlease’s former guru on modern methods of construction and Lasse Lind, the head of circularity and partner at GXN, his work includes Denmark’s circular social housing project.

Don’t miss out! 1st April at the Greenhouse, on Level 3 in the Salesforce Building, 180 George Street, Sydney.
