Moderator Rachel Alembakis has some provocative questions up her sleeve for our first forum of the year.

She has an impressive financial journalism background, covering some of the most challenging issues in this precarious but highly rewarding sector of the green transition. As a graduate of both the London School of Economics and Boston University, Alembakis is comfortable at the top end of town.

But Alembakis has taken her skills much further, founding The Sustainability Report, later absorbed by Rainmaker Information to become FS Sustainability, and now sheโ€™s jumped into the thick of the industry she covered, sitting on the board of the Responsible Investment Association Australasia (RIAA) as well as her new day job as stewardship manager at U Ethical Investors.

So, how will Alembakis roll on the day?

Sheโ€™s got a batch great questions to kick off, among them:

  • With nearly two months into Trump 2.0, howโ€™s the global landscape of green investment going?
  • Howโ€™s the US administration affecting the big picture?
  • What is the landscape for wider investment in the Asia Pacific region?
  • Can investors turn to Asia to drive regional decarbonisation as well as find investment returns?
  • In Australia, what are the ingredients to building federal policies and processes that are resilient to what are very short political cycles?ย And create a more solid foundation for investors to make confident investment calls?
  • How powerful/effective are state governments when it comes to investment or catalysing investment?

But theyโ€™re just the starter questions. Next will come the deeper dives. Join in!

Maybe around the upcoming federal election and what might happen as one party suggests they โ€œkindaโ€ like Trump and are keen to follow suit on his lead.

If thereโ€™s a change of government, how likely are the state and federal policies and legislation to hold firm?

Help set off the firecrackers!

Our stars for the day โ€“ day Matt Kean, chair of the Climate Change Authority and Martijn Wilder, founder of Pollination have been given fair warning!
