29 April 2014 – Ken Morrison has been appointed chief executive officer of the Property Council of Australia to replace Peter Verwer.
Mr Morrison is a former chief operating officer of the Property Council and is currently chief executive of Tourism and Transport Forum.
The Property Council said Mr Morrison’s “proven political and policy skills, along with his extensive campaigning experience make him the ideal candidate for the role.
“He also possesses a unique understanding of the property industry and the evolving needs of Property Council members.”
The Green Building Council of Australia welcomed the news, stating that Mr Morrison was a strong supporter of the green building movement.
“His collaborative approach has helped deliver many successful joint initiatives, including the annual Green Cities conference and Built Environment Meets Parliament (BEMP) summit,” chief executive Romilly Madew said.
“Ken’s cool head and collaborative style will be great assets to our industry, and we look forward to continuing to further our joint objectives.”
Mr Morrison will start his role in the first week of August.
