Several Australian real estate companies have topped the 2020 Global Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DJSI) real estate rankings, which measures and tracks global corporate ESG practices.
Dexus managed the highest score for the second year running in the 2020 assessment of any real estate company, scoring 89/100.
Stockland came in second at 86/100.
The industry average is 30/100.

Additions to the global index include Humana, Ecolab and Fast Retailing. Alphabet, Bank of America and United Parcel Service were deleted from the list.
The DJSI are float-adjusted market capitalisation weighted indices that measure the performance of companies selected with ESG criteria. Only the top ranked companies within each industry are included in the indices.
The index represents the top 10 per cent of the largest 2500 companies in the S&P Global Broad Market Index based on long-term economic and ESG factors.
Djsi was started nearly two decades ago.
