Campaign group GetUp will target marginal seats with an advertisement featuring broadcaster and naturalist Sir David Attenborough talking about the effects of climate change on the Great Barrier Reef.
“Ninety-three per cent of the Reef has been hit by coral bleaching,” a GetUp statement said.
“Our Great Barrier Reef is dying before our eyes, and our government is doing nothing. They knew this was coming, and they did nothing. And unless we act now, they will continue to do nothing.”
GetUp is asking for contributions to get the ad on TV.
“We’ve got a TV ad proven to work in closely fought marginal seats this election. It’s designed to hurt the cowardly politicians who are letting our reef die.”
