30 May 2013 — Veolia Environmental Services will transform tonnes of green waste into valuable products through its $15m Greenfields facility in Bulla, Victoria.

About 30 kilometres to the north-west of Melbourne’s CBD, the 7300 square metre facility will accept tonnes of green waste and produce AS4454 compost products under Veolia’s north-west organics processing contract with the Metropolitan Waste Management Group and its eleven participating councils in Melbourne.

Prescribed Industrial Waste manager Matt Stanelos said the Bulla facility would have the capacity to process 85,000 tonnes per annum of organics.

“This will be supplemented with a second facility west of Melbourne’s CBD at Wyndham, which will initially operate as a transfer facility until 2015, where it will also process up to 35,000 tonnes under the NWOP contract,” he said.
