2 May 2013 โ A Memorandum of Understanding between University of Technology, Sydney, and the NSW Department of Primary Industries will pave the way for scientists to use world-leading next-generation molecular technologies for the benefit of the agriculture, horticulture, livestock and equine industries.
NSW Minister for Primary Industries Katrina Hodgkinson said the MOU allowed DPI and UTS to collaborate on diagnostic testing, vaccine development, disease detection and alternatives to antibiotics which would help to safeguard the Stateโs $12 billion primary industries sector.
โThe partnership also allows us to better share biosecurity infrastructure, including Elizabeth Macarthur Agricultural Institute โ the DPIโs $57 million Centre for Biosecurity in Sydneyโs south-west โ and UTSโs sophisticated diagnostic and research facilities,โ she said.
UTS is the worldโs first commercial site for the next generation DeltaVision OMX Blaze super resolution imaging system โ a device capable of capturing real-time multiple colour images of interactions between microorganisms and living cells.
