Sam Nickless has been appointed chief operating officer for legal firm Gilbert & Tobin, based in Sydney, which is slated to move into four floors at Lend Lease’s Barangaroo development in Sydney in mid 2016.
Mr Nickless first came onto The Fifth Estate’s radar in his former role at GPT where, as head of property solutions, he led GPT’s $6 million investment in the San Francisco based co-working space start up LiquidSpace.

At LiquidSpace Mr Nickless was also on the board of the company based in the San Francisco Bay area.
He told The Fifth Estate that in his new role he would lead the fitout for the new premises, to be designed by Woods Bagot and that he expected these would be sustainable in line with the base building. Design of the fitout will be by Woods Bagot.
Mr Nickless’ background includes principal of McKinsey & Company and general manager strategy and business development with the NAB and his studies include law and economics at the University of Adelaide and BCL, Law, from University of Oxford.
