Brief:  16 September 2010 – An Auspoll survey has shown that country people are more eager for large-scale development of clean energy than city people.

According to the poll of 1500 people, 85 per cent of rural respondents and 82 per cent of urban respondents want the government to “make clean energy cheaper quicker, through large scale development of solar, geothermal and wind power in urban and regional Australia”.

The survey was conducted for the Australian Conservation Foundation on the same day regional independents Tony Windsor and Rob Oakeshott announced they would support the formation of a Labor minority government.
