BRIEF – 24 March 2010 – A massive stormwater treatment plant will form a core part of the work that Bovis Lend Lease today announced it had won in its $20 million 2010 works package for stage 1 of tennis venue Melbourne Park, valued at $363 million in total.

The package includes installation of a 4.5 mega-litre stormwater retention tank under the oval next to Rod Laver Arena; an extension and landscaping works to the Rod Laver Arena Western Concourse along Batman Avenue to house water treatment and water storage facilities, as well as the Australian Open marquees; a landscape upgrade to the Oval; new entry stairs to Rod Laver Arena; and improvements to the taxi rank on Olympic Boulevard.

Bovis Lend Lease Victoria General Manager Geoff Moore said his team would apply its “industry-leading sustainability expertise to deliver the massive stormwater tank, which will form an integral part of an innovative water management system by supplying recycled stormwater for re-use throughout the precinct.”
