25 April 2013 — Australia’s largest solar power generators for winemakers will be built for De Bortoli Wines by The Solar Project, through projects partially funded by the Federal Government’s Clean Technology Investment Program.

The projects, with one also to be built at Tanunda for Barossa Vintners, incorporate more than 1300 solar photovoltaic panels from solar panel manufacturer Hanwha Q CELLS and will save tens of thousands of dollars per year for the two wineries. NHP Renewable Energy will ensure system durability.

The 230 kiloWatt solar array at De Bortoli Wines, to be completed in June, will be the largest solar power array on a winery in Australia.

The array for Barossa Vintners will be the largest for a winery in South Australia, and the state’s fifth largest rooftop solar generator.

The De Bortoli Wines Griffith project also incorporates one of Australia’s largest solar thermal arrays from Australian manufacturer Apricus Australia and installed by Fletcher Plumbing & Co. The array will provide process heat for the winery’s bottling operations.
