BRIEF: July 29, 2009 – The GPT Group was awarded the NSW Department of Environment and Climate Change Energy Green Globe Award at Parliament House in Sydney on Tuesday night for its Sydney development, the Rouse Hill Town Centre.

Now in its tenth year, the Green Globe Awards reward environmental excellence in the sustainable use of natural resources and climate change leadership in NSW.

The Awards are open to individuals and organisations within the private, public and community sectors who can demonstrate significant achievements in:

sustainability and climate change leadership

water, energy and waste savings

reduction of greenhouse gas emissions

adaptation to climate change.

Rouse Hill Town Centre, which is owned, managed and developed by GPT is a

70,000 sqm retail, entertainment and community centre featuring open air shopping, entertainment areas, a Town Square, Market Square and interactive children’s learning and play areas.

Opened in March 2008, the centre is currently tracking at a 40 per cent energy saving when compared to a traditional shopping centre of the same size. GPT originally set a target to reduce the centre’s eco-footprint by 25 per cent when compared to a traditional shopping centre of the same size but as achieved an eco-footprint reduction of 32 per cent.
