BRIEF 3 July 2009 – Jones Lang LaSalle’s Upstream Sustainability Services has been appointed lead strategy consultant to the Global Reporting Initiative for the development of global guidelines to harmonise corporate reporting on sustainability issues for the construction and real estate sector.

The two year mandate will involve working with the  collaborating centre of the United Nations, to support the GRI in producing detailed guidelines to supplement the multi-sector G3 guidelines, which will assist companies and governments in disclosing their economic, environmental, and social performance on issues such as climate change and supply chain management.

“In collaboration with the GRI and a Working Group of sustainability reporters and industry experts including Hermes (with the British Property Federation), Lend Lease, ProLogis, Oxford Properties, Arup, Landcom and Citycon, Upstream’s role will be to build consensus amongst a geographically diverse group of construction and real estate stakeholders to deliver guidelines which are tailored to the needs of the sector,” a statement from Jones Lang LaSalle said.
