27 May 2013 — Sustainability consultant and author Michael Mobbs is helping to get sustainability conversations back on the street with an innovative new project called ecoPOPs.
What sounds like a zero-carbon iceblock is actually a self-sustaining, portable garden that can be set up easily on city streets. The ecoPOP catches and stores rainwater, uses solar energy to pump nutrients created by an integrated compost system, grows food, recycles materials and helps to tackle the urban heat island effect.
This Josh’s House video shows Michael, Josh Byrne and Fremantle Mayor Brad Pettitt discussing these “sustainability billboards”.
