9 July 2013 — The City of Melbourne wants public input into guidelines for green roofs, walls and facades.

The Growing Green Guide for Melbourne project is investigating the potential to transform Melbourne’s roofs, walls and facades into vegetated, leafy habitats.

The project is set up to create a guide for the construction of green roofs and walls to educate, inform and encourage green building development in Melbourne.

Recommendations will be developed on integrating rooftop and vertical greening into regulatory schemes and identify prime sites for future development of green roofs, walls and facades in the inner Melbourne region.

The Growing Green Guide for Melbourne is a joint initiative of the University of Melbourne and the Inner Melbourne Action Plan with the cities of Melbourne, Yarra, Stonnington and Port Phillip.
