31 August 2011 – One of the world’s most prominent climate scientists, NASA’s James Hansen was arrested yesterday outside the White House in the US, along with 140 other protesters against the proposed Keystone XL tar sands pipeline (See a Wikipedia entry) on this that threatens to ruin many pristine habitats and spell certain disaster for the global climate system, reports Treehugger this morning (Wednesday).
“Their stirring acts of civil disobedience made for yet another dramatic day in the series of scheduled protests that continue to put pressure on President Barack Obama to cancel the 1700 pipeline,” the website said.
