Brief: The University of New South Wales is gunning for net zero greenhouse gas emissions from its buildings by 2020 in a new three-year plan to improve the university’s sustainability performance.

The university will also switch to 100 per cent renewable energy by 2025.

All new buildings will be designed to be emissions free and energy efficiency upgrades will target the least efficient buildings on campus, saving enough electricity to power around 400 homes by 2022.

Centralised waste collection in offices will also be introduced to save an estimated one million plastic liners annually.
