8 July 2014 — BRIEF: The New South Wales Government is still not giving any clear indication of when the results of the review of BASIX will be announced.
A spokesperson for the Department of Planning and Environment told The Fifth Estate the department was currently considering the issues raised in feedback from the public and industry stakeholders, as part of finalising the policy.
“In total 83 submissions were received, with 80 per cent of them in support of the policy. The top issues raised in submissions included comments around the use of rainwater tanks, and suggestions for improvements to the functionality of the online BASIX tool,” the spokesperson said.
Submissions were taken until 14 February on the proposed revisions, which included increasing the energy and water targets, caps on heating and cooling and changes to the zone boundaries.
