12 December 2012— Independent cyclone testing at James Cook University has awarded Coenergy PowerPlus modules installed on the company’s mounting systems a rating of “Cyclonic Ultimate Strength”.
The system also passed large hail, ammonia and salt mist tests. The cyclonic rating, for cyclones rated A to C, is a first for a solar company.
Along with static tests, the testing included the “low-high-low” test, which simulates the effect of the extremely high wind speeds that change quickly and drastically during cyclones.
The cyclical stress is considered far more challenging than static loads and represents the most destructive element of such storms.
Testing was done at the Cyclone Testing Station in the School of Engineering and Physical Sciences.
