20 November 2012 — A draft masterplan for a new employment focused suburb on the 770 hectare East Werribee Employment Precinct has been released. The new suburb will deliver 50,000 jobs across a range of industries and sectors, transport infrastructure and services, a demonstration of a water sensitive city and provide more than 7000 homes. Premier Ted Baillieu said East Werribee Employment Precinct would be the largest integrated business and residential development of government owned land in Victoria since Docklands. Planning Minister Matthew Guy East Werribee was in the heart one of Australia’s fastest growing urban areas and is a prime location for increased residential and commercial activity. It is situated 25 kilometres from the centre of Melbourne and 40 kilometres from Geelong city centre East Werribee is strategically located close to the Port of Melbourne, Tullamarine Airport and Avalon Airport. A draft masterplan will be available for community consultation from Tuesday 27 November. Public submissions will be accepted until Monday 11 February 2013.
