Professor Rob Adams AM was this month awarded the prestigious Sidney Luker Memorial Medal for 2009 by the NSW Planning Institute of Australia at a ceremony on 10 December.
Professor Adams, director, design and urban environment at the City of Melbourne, was recognised for the โsignificant contribution he has made to the
planning profession particularly in raising the profile of urban design.โ
He was also awarded an Order of Australia (AM) for services to urban design, town planning and architecture.

According to the PIA Professor Adams has, โguided the first comprehensive urban design strategy for the City of Melbourne. He has also promoted the arts and culture of the city by elevating the profile of public art. More recently he has made a significant contribution to the Cityโs โZero Emissions 2020โ project through such buildings as CH2, Australiaโs first six star commercial building.


โHe is a keen lecturer at RMIT and Melbourne University. He has been both a successful competitor and
judge for various national and international design competitions and is a regular keynote
speaker. โ
