Neil Hill

Neil Hill has been appointed design director of design and consulting firm Woods Bagot.

Mr Hill has over 25 years of experiences, including with large-scale mixed-use, commercial, transport, workplace and cultural projects. His expertise is in masterplanning, concept design and design development. He comes to Woods Bagot from PTW.

Woods Bagot principal Domenic Alvaro said Mr Hillโ€™s diverse project portfolio was key for a major design role, and that his appointment signalled the strength of the business in attracting extraordinary talent.

โ€œBased in the Sydney studio, Neilโ€™s knowledge and experience traverses commercial developments, aviation and rail, education, civic and cultural, urban design and retail,โ€ Mr Alvaro said. โ€œBy considering how people use space, Neil is a big picture thinker, adept at envisioning a truly mixed-use site, cross pollinating the precinct for spatial efficiency and experience.โ€

Mr Hill said he was drawn to Woods Bagotโ€™s multi-sector approach.

โ€œIn a way, Woods Bagot has come of age. The Global Studio is now a significant design studio pushing new frontiers in terms of creative endeavour within the built environment. Itโ€™s an ecosystem of creativity, allowing designers to flourish within a collaborative, highly integrated model.โ€

Mr Hill is a graduate of the University of South Australia. His professional career spans Adelaide, Brisbane, Melbourne, Sydney, Christchurch, London, Thailand and Singapore.

Prior to joining Woods Bagot, key projects under Neilโ€™s design direction have included Calyx Horticultural Display Centre Royal Botanic Gardens Sydney; Mixed Use Residential Tower North Sydney; Sydney North West Metro bid phase; QUT Creative Industries Faculty Building, Brisbane; Cross River Rail reference design, Brisbane; Waterfront Place Upgrade Brisbane; and Christchurch Airport Terminal Redevelopment.
