There’s enormous and growing interest in social impact from big investors. Sustainability and socially minded capital want assurance that it’s helping deliver better places to live and work.

Our cities cry out for more density to meet housing demand, but what will those places be like to live in?

If they stimulate connected, resilient and healthy communities, we can meet the environmental challenges before us. Great design and clever operational interventions can even help solve the loneliness epidemic.

If our workplaces – in offices, industrial or institutional property – are designed to improve the quality of life for workers, we’ll benefit from happier communities and maybe start to reverse the deteriorating productivity that’s been plaguing our economic performance of late.

With the world falling into disorder right now, we need to double down our focus on the things that are most important to us – our climate challenges, our sustainability challenges and our social resilience.

Architects, urban planners and enlightened developers can contribute enormous benefits to our world that go well beyond the capital investment.

At this next session of Navigating Sustainability 2025, our monthly leaders forum will reveal the thinking and actions of some of Australia’s leaders who are focused on solving these problems.
