Vanessa Petrie has been appointed chief executive of climate solutions think tank Beyond Zero Emissions, replacing Dr Stephen Bygrave, who is now executive director climate change and sustainability for the ACT government.
Ms Petrie is a sustainability practitioner with a background in environmental engineering. She holds a bachelor of environmental engineering from RMIT and a master of environment from the University of Melbourne.
Ms Petrie has close to 20 years’ experience in sustainability, working across local and state government on infrastructure projects, legislative policy development, major policy reform and waste and resource recovery strategic planning.
Most recently she was director of strategy and projects at the Metropolitan Waste and Resource Recovery Group, leading the delivery of the first Metropolitan Waste and Resource Recovery Implementation Plan.
