The UTS Program Management Office is responsible for the planning, design and delivery of the Capital Development Program of UTS major capital works projects. Due to a period of parental leave, the Program Management Office is seeking an experienced sustainability manager to join us as Head of Sustainability.
As Head of Sustainability, you will oversee responsibility for improving UTS’s sustainability performance through the planning, delivery and communication of sustainability initiatives. Working collaboratively across UTS governance, operations, engagement and learning areas, you will work to effectively deliver relevant and impactful sustainability outcomes.
This role leads a team of sustainability professionals including engineering and engagement managers to ensure delivery of sustainability goals aligned with the UTS 2027 Strategy, UTS Sustainability Policy, UTS Sustainability Strategy 2017 – 2020 and Program Management Office plan.
This is an exciting opportunity to join UTS and work closely with key stakeholders across UTS who oversee our expansive campus and ambitious growth plans.
As the ideal candidate for this role, you will be:
An extensively experienced people leader within the built environment/facilities management/infrastructure/organisational sustainability sector within a large and complex organisation. Preferably, you will be someone with demonstrated experience in upholding sustainability responsibilities in a higher education institution, government department, local council or other major property owner.
Knowledge in sustainability tools such as Green Star, WELL, National Construction Code Section J, ACTS LiFE Index, AASHE Stars, along with a working knowledge of relevant local council, NSW and national sustainability legislative requirements will be key to success in this role.
You will be comfortable and able to analyse complex situations and make effective recommendations. Through your leadership experience, you will be well versed in developing and implementing successful change management initiatives.
Through your excellent communication skills, you will be confident to influence and motivate others as both a leader and a peer. Having previously worked across a large and complex organisation, you will be able to translate complex information into practical and relevant solutions. You will be skilled in managing budgets and conducting cost benefit analysis with a focus on ensuring value and driving continuous improvement.

An attractive and competitive base salary will be offered to the successful candidate.
This role attracts 9.5% superannuation in addition to the base salary.
This position is full-time and appointment will be made on a fixed term basis for a period of 10 months.
